The workshop
A small team that only does this
No sales office, no subcontracted trades turning up in sequence. The people who quote your job are the people who do it.
TileDegree started because too many bathrooms and kitchens get built by a rotating cast of trades with nobody holding the whole thing together. One person tiles over another person’s tanking without checking it. The plumber has moved on by the time the leak shows up.
We keep it small on purpose. A handful of people who have each been on the tools for over a decade, doing the strip-out, the first fix, the tanking, the tiling and the fit-out ourselves, in one run. If something is wrong, there is one number to call.
We take on 240-odd rooms over 9 years’ worth of work — mostly across London and out along the Metropolitan line to Chesham. Some are a full marble bathroom; some are a re-grout and a new floor. They get the same approach.
How we work
- The substrate decides how long the work lasts. It gets checked and prepared, not covered up.
- Tanking is photographed before it disappears under the tile.
- Setting out is a drawing exercise before it is a fixing exercise.
- A quote describes the finish you are getting, not just a day rate.
- The site is clean at the end of every day, because you still live there.
