The brief

The extension was built and plastered; the client needed everything from the floor up. The priority was one uninterrupted floor with no step or strip between old and new.

What we did

  • Substrate surveyed over a 2 m straightedge and levelled to a large-format tolerance
  • Movement joint planned at the junction of old and new structure, hidden in a grout line
  • 1200×1200 porcelain, back-buttered, levelling clips on every joint
  • Trade units assembled and fitted; quartz worktop templated and fitted
  • Metro splashback in a one-third bond, set from the hob centre line

“You cannot tell where the old kitchen stops and the extension starts. That was the whole point and they nailed it.”
